Golumba Kim After obtaining her bachelor of applied arts degree, and receiving a teaching certification in Seoul, South Korea, Golumba was City Art Co-ordinator at the Women’s Welfare Centre in Seoul. Subsequently she opened, and for nine years managed her own art school where she taught students from elementary to adults. In 1997 she arrived in Canada and since then has devoted most of her artistic time to painting, although she has given a number of technical watercolor workshops and classes to local artist groups. She has also taught art classes at junior high school level in the Bedford Academy. Golumba constantly strives to integrate Korean with Canadian traditions to broaden her artistic horizons. To this end she has participated in workshops given by Jeannie Hancock, Ron Hazell and Chang-kee-chee. In 2006 she was elected as a member of The Canadian Society of Painters in Water Color (CSPWC). Most recently her artistic interests have moved towards oil and acrylics, incorporating mixed media in a more abstract style. For five years she operated an art gallery at Black Point, St. Margaret’s Bay. She has exhibited at the Jo-Beale Gallery in Peggy’s Cove and at the Edge mere Gallery, Wolfville as well as in China and Korea. She has participated in many group shows. Currently she maintains a studio gallery at her home in Halifax. Her work is for sale at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Art Sales and Rental Gallery and at Humani-T art gallery.
